My History
My name is Claude “Hoppa” Hendrickson MBE. I draw inspiration from working in partnership with others. I am skilled in communicating effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, ages, and genders to deliver successful projects. I have actively participated in several projects that have positively transformed people's lives.
The Self-Build project, helped young unemployed men gain new skills, employment, a sense of self-respect, and community respect while building their own homes.
The CSBA “Community Self Build Agency,” which I co-founded in 1996 and have voluntarily served as their Northern Development Director since 2005. Recently, the CSBA has supported successful self-build projects for ex-military homeless men in Bristol.
The Yes Cyber project, transformed an old takeaway shop front into a modern Internet access centre, providing the community with a youth enquiry service on the high street.
CYP10-2club, which gave young people the opportunity to shape the future of services delivered to them.
BHI Black Men’s Health Champion, which provided me with a platform to raise specific health issues among Black men.
I have achieved numerous successes working within my community of Chapeltown and feel ready to take this success to all communities in the City of Leeds and the wider Leeds region, sharing good practice.
Over the last 35 years, I have worked face-to-face with individuals and groups from all walks of life, diverse backgrounds, and abilities, delivering consistent outputs in my work and positive outcomes for my clients.
I also offer consultancy services on Self-Build and Black male role models and sit on several Strategy Boards in Leeds and West Yorkshire.
